About Your Quote

Things you should know about your quote.

Will it cost me anything to receive a quote?

It costs nothing to receive a quote for your scrap car from A&L and there’s no obligation to accept either! Simply provide your car’s registration and your postcode to find out the value of your car.

What type of cars do you buy?

We buy cars and vans of all ages and conditions. Our teams of buyers will compete to offer you the best possible price even if your car is roadworthy, has low or high mileage, failed an MOT or is beyond repair and ready to be scrapped.

How do you work out the value of my car?

We ask you to provide your car’s registration and your postcode so that we can find out the type of car that you have and its location. We’ll use this information along with our assumptions that the car has no significant damage or major parts missing, to give you the best price available from competing scrap dealers.

Will I have time to think about my quote?

Yes, the quote that we give you will be valid for seven days, perfect if you’re not quite ready to accept straight away. When you’d like to retrieve your quote, simply provide your registration and postcode or click the link in the email that we send you.

Are there any minimum requirements to receive a quote?

We provide you with a quote for your car based on the following minimum requirements:
  • You can provide photographic ID and proof of address
  • Your vehicle is free of all finance charges (e.g. hire purchases & loan agreements)
  • Your vehicle is free from waste, rubbish and litter
  • Your car or van has no more than 9 seats
  • Your car is accessible for collection (parked on solid ground with inflated tyres)
If any of the above criteria cannot be met, the initial quote provided to you may need to be re-evaluated.

Will you ask me any questions about my car?

For evaluation purposes, we may ask you some questions regarding the condition of your car, such as:
  • Does it contain all of its parts?
  • Does it contain any damage?
  • What’s the approximate mileage?
  • Do you have access to the keys?
  • Do you have access to the registration certificate?
  • Has the car ever been written-off?
  • Does it start and drive?
  • How much MOT is remaining?
  • Is there any service history?
If you’re unable to answer any questions regarding your vehicle, we will make some basic assumptions about its condition.
