Is it illegal to sell my written off car?
It is perfectly legal to sell written off cars. However, we will need to be informed of the severity of the damage to know whether scrapping is viable, so we may ask you for further details in a phone call.
Can I scrap my write-off car without the logbook?
Please let us know if you do not have a logbook! If you do not have a logbook for your write-off vehicle, you will need to notify the DVLA via post to notify them of the sale.
The letter should include includes details regarding your vehicle registration, make and model, the scrap yard name and address, and the date of the sale.
After this, the DVLA will amend and update its records.
