After holding the top spot for a number of years, we can now confirm that the Ford Focus has been bumped down to second place for the most scrapped car in 2025.
Dethroning the Ford Focus is the Vauxhall Astra, making up 6% of all scrapped cars in the UK in 2025!
Vauxhall Astras have been an extremely popular family car since the 1980s, having had over eight generations released. With so many Astras on the road, it is no surprise that many are now reaching the end of their life. The top ten most scrapped cars from this year are shown below:
- Vauxhall Astra: 6% of the scrap market share
- Ford Focus: 5.6% of the scrap market share
- Vauxhall Corsa: 4.8% of the scrap market share
- Ford Fiesta: 4% of the scrap market share
- Volkswagen Golf: 2.8% of the scrap market share
- Peugeot 207: 2.5% of the scrap market share
- Vauxhall Zafira: 2.2% of the scrap market share
- Renault Clio: 2.1% of the scrap market share
- Mini Hatch (Cooper/One): 2.1% of the scrap market share
- Ford Transit: 1.9% of the scrap market share
This list is very similar to last year’s top scrapped cars. Of course, the Astra has overtaken the Focus in the run for the top spot, but the previous number 10, the Volkswagen Polo, has also dropped off the list completely, replaced by the trusty Ford Transit van.
